The all-new 2019 Honda CBR400R has been introduced in Japan. The 2019 Honda CBR400R is identical to the CBR500R in terms of design, underpinnings and mechanical components, with the only change being the smaller engine. So much is the similarity with the Honda CBR500R that the motorcycle features an identical colour scheme (Grand Prix Red, Matte Axis Gray Metallic and Pearl Glare White) as well. The bike features a sporty bodywork, LED headlights and a fully-digital instrument cluster.

Powering the Honda CBR400R is a 399cc, twin-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that generates 46 bhp of power at 9,000 rpm and 38 Nm of peak torque at 7,500 rpm. A six-speed gearbox works in tandem with the motor while a slipper clutch is available as standard. The company has also revised the intake system and valve timing.


The 2019 Honda CBR400R tips the weighing scales with a weight of 192 kg. Despite the impressive par figures, Honda claims that the CBR400R delivers a fuel economy of 41 km/l when ridden regularly at 60 km/h. Stopping power is provided by petal disc brakes at both the ends with dual-channel ABS as standard.

Damping hardware includes conventional telescopic forks up front and a mono-shock at the rear. The 17-inch alloy wheels are paired with 120/70-17 front and 160/60-17 at the back. The motorcycle has a fuel tank capacity of 17 litres, with a range of over 400 km.


In Japan, the 2019 Honda CBR400R is priced at 793,800 Yen. In comparison, the Kawasaki Ninja 400 is priced at 663,000 Yen.
