The 2019 Kawasaki Versys 1000 comes in standard and SE
versions. The 2019 Versys 1000 is not a new model per se, but rather an updated
version from the previous generation tourer. The front facade of the 2019 Versys 1000 is all-new, with twin LED
headlights and a short beak. There is some design resemblance between the
Versys 1000 and the Ninja sports bikes, along with changes to the side panels
and exhaust.
A TFT-LCD instrument panel now features on the
Versys 1000, and connects with the Rideology app – available only on the SE –
for enhanced user functions, although the rev counter is still an analogue
unit. Meanwhile, an auxiliary power socket, previously an option, is now
standard on the Versys 1000.
There are no changes in the engine room, with the
Versys 1000 powered by an inline-four cylinder liquid-cooled mill displacing
1,043 cc, mated to a six-speed gearbox. Kawasaki says the Versys 1000 puts out
120 PS at 9,000 rpm and 102 Nm of torque at 7,500 rpm – no difference to the
outgoing Versys 1000.
Twin 310 mm diameter discs on the front wheel handle
stopping duties, clamped by four-piston callipers and suspended by upside-down
43 mm diameter forks. At the back is a Showa BFRC monoshock and both front and
back suspension can be adjusted for preload and compression.
A full suite of rider aids comes with the Versys
1000, including three-mode Kawasaki Traction Control (KTRC), adjustable
windshield, Kawasaki Intelligent anti-lock Brake System (KIBS), cruise control
and power modes. The SE version adds to the aforementioned specifications list
with LED Cornering Lights, Kawasaki Electronic Control Suspension (KECS) which
complements the ride modes, quickshifter, self-repairing paint, hand guards and
taller windshield.
Naturally, a full range of accessories is available
for the 2019 Kawasaki Versys 1000, which comes in four colour options for Europe,
from the official catalogue. These include crash bars, top box and side
panniers and auxiliary riding lights.
