Pricing details for the 2020 BMW X3 M, X4 M, and
their respective Competition models have been announced a couple days after the
vehicles premiered online. Sitting at the base of the range will be the X3 M, priced from US$ 70,896 including the obligatory US$ 995 destination and handling charge. The
slightly-less-practical but sportier looking X4 M can be purchased new from US$ 74,395. Both the X3 M Competition and X4 M Competition are US$ 7,000 pricier than
their ‘standard’ siblings.
The differences between the base models and those
with a Competition badge aren’t significant, but are still pronounced enough to
encourage buyers to shell out for the go-faster models. All vehicles in the X3
M and X4 M range are powered by BMW’s new S58 3.0-liter twin-turbo six-cylinder
engine. Base models deliver 473 hp and 598 Nm of torque, sending
the duo to 96 km/h in 4.1 seconds and a limited top speed of 280 km/h.
As for the X3 M Competition and X4 M Competition,
they put out 503 hp – the torque remains the same as the non-Competition
versions. The sprint to 60 mph drops to 4.0 seconds, while top speed is bumped
up to 284 km/h)with the available M Driver’s Package. Economy figures
haven’t yet been ratified by the EPA.
To provide us with an even better look at the
vehicles, BMW has dropped a new clip detailing some of their most important
features. The video also provides some cool footage of the potent SUVs in
action over a variety of surfaces so it’s definitely worth a watch. Order books for the new
twin-turbo powered SUVs will open in July and deliveries should follow shortly
after.
