The 2020 Ford Explorer may be a significant
improvement over the outgoing model, but those improvements do come at a cost.

in it, the pricing details for all new Explorer models.
Buyers of the entry-level 2020 Explorer will need to
part ways with US$ 33,860, including the US$ 1095 destination charge. That’s a US$ 400
increase over last year. Which is very modest when you consider all the new
features the 2020 model has, including automatic emergency braking as standard.
Moving up in the range is the Explorer XLT that’s
priced from US$ 37,770. That’s a considerable US$ 2,275 price increase over the 2019
model. The price jumps continue with the Explorer Limited, up US$ 5,365 from the
previous-gen, bringing the base price to US$ 49,225, while the range-topping
Platinum boasts a US$ 59,345 sticker, US$ 4,085 more over the 2019MY.
Some of these price jumps are quite substantial, but
they’re not as wild as things get. Instead, it is the Explorer ST that
experiences the largest jump in price over its predecessor, the 2019 Explorer
Sport. Priced from US$ 55,835, the ST is US$ 8,115 more expensive. However, we will
give Ford a pass for this one as the ST is much more performance-oriented than
the Explorer Sport ever was and utilizes a 3.0-liter EcoBoost engine with 400
hp and 562 Nm of torque.
In addition, the 2020 Explorer ST has a
quick-shifting 10-speed automatic transmission as standard, which works
alongside a four-wheel drive system with selectable traction control. Buyers
will also find bold new styling elements across the exterior and a number of
sporty trimmings throughout the cabin.
