The rear-end of the 2020 Skoda Octavia has allegedly
leaked via a driver information display. The image was published originally by
Czech publication auto.cz. The 2020 Skoda Octavia appears to have a somewhat oddball design at
the rear, as opposed to the much sportier and more athletic appearance
portrayed in recent renderings. The rear fascia looks a bit dull, with a
simplistic bumper design, weird L-shaped tail lamps and an old-style Skoda logo
instead of ‘SKODA’ in block lettering across the boot lid.
At the front, the Skoda Octavia will move back to
single-lens headlamps. As for the interior, expect several new ‘Simply Clever’
features, new minimalist dashboard design and new infotainment systems from the
third generation of the MIB modular matrix, perhaps with a free-standing screen
as big as 9.2-inches.
The engine line-up should kick-off
with the 1.0-litre TSI petrol unit, and include 1.5-litre TSI-Evo petrol,
1.6-litre TDI diesel and 2.0-litre diesel units. There’s no speak of 1.8- and
2.0-litre TSI petrol options this time, although one can expect the latter in
the RS variant.
For the first time, the Skoda Octavia range will
include a plug-in hybrid variant. The plan is to offer an
electrified powertrain in the hatchback and estate both body types. Reports say
that the 1.5-litre TSI-Evo petrol engine may come with 48V mild-hybrid tech.
The RS variant is also said to go hybrid.
The 2020 Skoda Octavia will likely debut in the
second half of this year.
