Right now, DS has some pretty intriguing models in
its range, including the DS 3 Crossback and the larger DS 7 Crossback. A
vehicle which DS doesn’t have in its lineup, however, is a sports car. The DS-X Concept is an attempt to
visualize how such a model would look. Their creation, takes the idea of a
two-door sports car and displays how a very advanced sports car might look in
2035.
Unlike virtually every car on the market, the DS-X
Concept doesn’t have a normal cabin. Instead, the passenger sits in an enclosed
section while the driver sits exposed to the elements just like in a Speedster.
It looks futuristic, but it’s not something we can see being adopted by anyone.
The bodywork of the DS-X Concept has also been split
into two halves. The one accommodating the driver includes a dedicated front
grille offset from the center of the car, while the passenger side of the
fascia incorporates a large opening that reveals the front wheel. At the back,
the two parts merge into one, with the driver’s side being by far the larger
one. The car’s unique shape is perhaps best viewed from above as it shows the
angle at which the front and rear sit.
Will such a vehicle ever exist in production form?
The answer is probably no, but we do always enjoy seeing unique twists on
traditional automobile design.
