Rumors about hot versions of the i20 and Tucson have been circulating for quite some time, even before the launch of the i30 N models. Quoting insiders, AutoExpress says that both vehicles are indeed on their way to production.

Expected in about two years, the Tucson N will battle it out with the Cupra Ateca and Volkswagen T-Roc R. The sporty version of the compact SUV will reportedly have at least 340 PS and sprint to 100 km/h in under 6 seconds, about the same as its direct rivals.

Hyundai exec Albert Biermann suggested that a possible Tucson N variant would also have a sporty, lower suspension compared to the regular models. It would also get sharper handling, performance tires and what he referred to as “a lot of power”. Besides these, it should also get a more aggressive exterior design and sportier trim in the cabin.

The ‘N’ division of the Korean automaker seems to be interested in launching a Volkswagen Polo GTI, Renault Clio RS and Ford Fiesta ST rival. The rumored i20 N is believed to debut early next year with an electronic differential, front-wheel drive and a massive output for what is a supermini hot hatch, at least according to the British website which states that it will have ‘at least’ 250 PS.
