The fifth-generation Hyundai Verna is available with
only 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmissions. A CVT is in the works
for this sedan, spy shots published by BitAuto have revealed. Seen in the images is the Chinese-spec
version that is known as the Hyundai Verna Yuena.
It is powered by the
1.4-litre MPI naturally aspirated petrol engine that produces 99.25
PS and 132 Nm of torque. Instead of a 6-speed manual/automatic transmission, a
CVT is on duty to channel power to the front wheels in the test mule. Maybe
it’s the same CVT that is available in the Hyundai i20 in India.
Beijing-Hyundai is working on giving the Verna Yuena
a facelift. The CVT option is expected to arrive before the mid-cycle update by
the end of this year. The facelifted model was also spied earlier this month.
