Naza Kia Malaysia has officially launched the new
Picanto GT-Line in Malaysia, which is a new variant that joins the existing EX
in the Picanto line-up (we previously reported on). Priced at RM 57,888
on-the-road without insurance, the GT-Line is a whole RM 8,000 more than the
base EX thanks to an enhanced kit list. The big item here is the addition
of autonomous emergency braking (AEB) on top of already-standard features such
as six airbags, ABS with EBD and brake assist, stability control, hill start
assist and ISOFIX rear child seat anchors.
Aside from the bump in safety equipment, the GT-Line
also gets a new front bumper with a larger lower apron and integrated fog
lights, deeper side skirts and an aggressive rear diffuser design with twin
exhaust exits. There are also plenty of contrasting accents for the grille, front
intakes, side skirts and rear diffuser, while the car rides on 16-inch
eight-spoke alloy wheels in a two-tone finish.
As for the inside, there’s a leather-wrapped
flat-bottomed steering wheel, automatic air-conditioning, two-tone leather
seats, sunroof, Supervision instrument cluster, front armrest, an illuminated
vanity mirror, cruise control and a tyre pressure monitoring system.
The rest of the equipment list is identical to the
EX, including automatic projector halogen headlights with LED daytime running
lights, LED taillights, keyless entry, push-button start, a reverse camera, six
speakers and a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay
and Android Auto compatibility.
The engine remains a 1.2 litre Kappa II
naturally-aspirated four-cylinder unit that makes 84 PS at 6,000 rpm and 122 Nm
at 4,000 rpm. This is mated to a four-speed automatic transmission that drives
the front wheels. Buyers will get to choose from three exterior finishes – Titanium
Silver, Clear White and Aurora Black Pearl. Each purchase also come with five
years warranty with unlimited mileage.
