The first spy shots of the Mahindra XUV300 AMT have
surfaced online, courtesy carandbike. Its launch will take place in a few months. For the
XUV300, reports say that it has decided to source AMT from Italy-based
Magneti Marelli. It will likely be a 6-speed unit.
Reports say that Mahindra will introduce the AMT
option as only a temporary solution. With the BSVI upgrade in 2020, the company
will replace the Magneti Marelli-made AMT with an Aisin-sourced torque
converter automatic transmission, also likely a 6-speed unit.
Currently, the Mahindra XUV300 is available with the
all-new G12 1.2-litre turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine and the D15
1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine, both married to a 6-speed
manual transmission. The petrol engine produces 110 BHP at 3,750 rpm
and 300 Nm of torque at 1,500-2,500 rpm. The diesel engine develops 115
BHP at 3,750 rpm and 300 Nm of torque at 1,500-2,500 rpm. The fuel economy
rating of the B-SUV is 17 km/l (petrol)/20 km/l (diesel).
Prices of the Mahindra XUV300 start at INR 7.90 lakh
(ex-showroom India) and go up to INR 11.99 lakh (ex-showroom India). The new
sub-4 metre SUV competes with the Ford EcoSport, Maruti Vitara Brezza and Tata
Nexon.
