The Mercedes-AMG GT R needs more power. Yet German tuner Fostla has given it an extra 65 PS and
70 Nm of torque anyway. Part of their Level 1 performance
upgrade for the AMG GT R, it allows the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 to produce an
impressive 650 PS and 770 Nm of torque. And while
they didn’t disclose a 0-100 km/h sprint time, the stock model can
do it in 3.6 seconds, so it’ll probably save at least a couple of tenths.
Thanks to the extra oomph, Merc’s supercar is now
better equipped to mix it with bona fide supercars such as the new Lamborghini
Huracan Evo. It may take a lot of effort to beat the Italian vehicle, which
doesn’t need any aftermarket upgrades to hit 100 km/h in 2.9 seconds.
However, this AMG GT R is more powerful, as the Lambo’s 6.5-liter naturally
aspirated V10 is good for 640 PS and 600 Nm of
torque.
Of course, the Lambo has a sophisticated all-wheel
drive system that the RWD-only Merc lacks, so it’ll eventually come out on top
in a standing start race. Still, rear-wheel drive is lots of fun, and not
everyone who buys a sports car is interested in racing it against other owners. Anyhow, Fostla made sure that its
GT R won’t fly under the radar by giving it a full vinyl wrap with an urban
camo pattern at the rear and a yellow finish at the front.
