Mitsubishi has kicked off the launch campaign of the
Engelberg Tourer, an SUV concept which will be officially unveiled on March 5
at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show, with the release of a dark image that’s teasing
its front end.
Named after the Swiss winter sport resort, the study
will “bring further developments in SUV styling and practicality, along with a
focus on next-generation technology and enhanced EV performance”, says
Mitsubishi.
Given the short reference to the Outlander PHEV,
which is still successful in certain markets such as the United Kingdom, where
it has been on sale since 2014, the show car could offer a glimpse into the
next-generation model.
Like ’em or hate ’em, gigantic grilles are the thing
these days, and the Engelberg Tourer Concept has one, too, that’s flanked by
the slim headlights and C-shaped lighting units. There’s a front skid plate,
the hood has a clean design and moving further back we can see that the
traditional side mirrors have been replaced by cameras. The final touch is what
appears to be a roof rack, with three LED light clusters on each side.
Mitsubishi is expected to drop more teasers in the
coming weeks as it builds up hype for the Engelberg Tourer concept before
unveiling it at one of the biggest automotive events of the year.
