The PSA Group and
Changan Automobile are prepping a new Peugeot pickup truck for the Chinese
market, which in essence will be a rebadged version of the Changan Kaicheng
F70. Based on the spy shots obtained by AutoHome, the two vehicles are very
similar on the outside, with only the Peugeot-branded front end setting them
apart.
The cabin is fairly modern. It has a tablet-like
infotainment system on top of the dashboard, multi-function steering wheel and
interesting design for the buttons positioned on the central console.
This particular
model uses a six-speed manual gearbox that’s believed to be linked to a
1.9-liter diesel engine, rated at 152 PS. This is the
same engine that powers the Peugeot’s Chinese sibling, the F70.
The F70 is 5,330 mm long, 1,875 mm wide and 1,930 mm tall, with a
3,180 mm long wheelbase. The proportions are expected to be retained
by the Peugeot pickup, which would theoretically make it 75 mm longer,
25 mm wider and 110 mm taller than the third-gen Nissan Navara,
whose wheelbase is 3,150 mm long.
Peugeot’s new
pickup truck will remain a China-only affair, as PSA has no intention of
launching it in global markets. We’ll remind you that Peugeot has been selling
a ‘Pick Up’ in Africa since 2017, which is a completely different vehicle that
builds on the Zhengzhou Nissan Auto Rich New.
