Tuners are making the most of the new Suzuki Jimny’s
Mercedes G-Class-inspired looks. The latest is Wald International, who has just
unveiled its Black Bison kit for the tiny off-roader.The Japanese tuning
company appears to have taken inspiration from the rugged G500 4×4² when
designing its upgrade package for the Jimny. Consequently, it has been adorned
with eye-catching exterior parts and sits on a set of huge off-road wheels and
tires.
The Jimny pictured has been painted in matte black
and the front fascia immediately gives off G-Class vibes with the round
headlights, upright grille, and LED daytime running lights. Sure, it’s not
going to fool people in traffic into thinking this is a legitimate G-Class, but
it’s certainly a valiant attempt. An aggressive hood and roof-mounted LEDs are
also part of the pack.
The G-Class traits are also
obvious, particularly due to the flared wheel arches. At the rear, the bumper
has been beefed up and the spare wheel has been removed. Wald International has clearly
altered the Jimny’s suspension system to bump up the ground clearance, but the
tiny 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine remains stock. That means it delivers 99 hp
and 130 Nm of torque which, in this day and age, make it seem
underpowered. Then again, the Jimny was never about straight line speed but
rather rock-crawling ability, so its fans won’t be deterred.
This isn’t the first Jimny we’ve seen modified into
a G-Class lookalike. In early January, Liberty Walk unveiled its bodykit for
the Jimny that makes it look like the offspring of the iconic Mercedes
off-roader.
