Tata Motors will unveil the H7X concept at the 2019
Geneva Motor Show (5-17 March). IAB’s artist
Shoeb Kalania has already envisioned its production version. The Tata H7X will be essentially
a stretched, more family oriented version of the Tata Harrier.
With the
addition of two rear seats, the exterior design will take a step back with
respect to emotion. Due to the conventional roofline and the back glass being a
little upright, the 7-seat C-SUV won’t have the same sporty appeal. It will
have a 62 mm longer body, albeit with the same wheelbase (2,741 mm).
The Tata H7X will use a more powerful engine than
the Tata Harrier. While the latter employs the 140 PS/350 Nm version of the
FCA-made 2.0-litre MultiJet II diesel engine, the former will likely sport the
170 PS/350 Nm version. IAB understands that Tata Motors is likely to name the
more powerful version ‘Kryotec170’.
The Kryotec170 engine will route power to the wheels
via a standard 6-speed manual transmission or an optional 6-speed automatic
transmission. Tata Motors plans to offer the latter, which is sourced from
Hyundai, in the Harrier as well.
The Tata H7X will go on sale in the fourth quarter
of the year, during the festive season.
