We had suspicions that it was coming and now we know
for sure that a VW T-Roc R is just around the corner following Volkswagen’s
announcement that it will debut a a near production concept of the potent
crossover at next month’s Geneva Motor Show.
The single teaser image released of the vehicle
shows that it will adopt all the brash bodywork one would expect of an R model
from VW. There are bold new air intakes at the front, sporty black and silver
wheels, flared wheel arches, and a number of edgy and aggressive design lines
across all exterior surfaces.
Volkswagen is expected to equip the T-Roc R with
many of the same components as the Golf R. This should mean power is provided
by a 2.0-liter turbocharger four-cylinder engine with 296 hp which is mated to
a seven-speed DSG transmission and four-wheel drive. Of course, there will be
four exhausts exiting out of the rear.
The T-Roc R is “a stylish
all-rounder that combines the sovereignty of an SUV with the dynamics of a
compact hatchback.” The car manufacturer won’t stop expanding the T-Roc family with the
launch of the R. In fact, Volkswagen announced that it will build a T-Roc
Cabriolet just over twelve months ago as the company evolves into a brand
dominated by crossovers and SUVs. Stay tuned for all the juicy details about the VW T-Roc R, including
pricing, as the Geneva Motor Show inches closer.
