Lancia only made 720 units of the Series III, and this
Aurelia B20GT is one of them. It left the factory floor in 1953 and was
originally shipped to Italy. Ten years later, it was imported to the United Kingdom, where it
changed hands a few times. In 2009, it was sold to its most recent owner, but
by then, time had left its mark on the car.
The classic Aurelia was then subjected to a
comprehensive restoration process, which took two years to complete. Over 1,200
hours are said to have been spent on metalwork repairs, rustproofing
everything. The vehicle has been finished in the factory-original shade of
Amaranto and fitted with cream-colored wheels.
The interior has a light grey look and everything is
in perfect condition, including the 2.5-liter V6 engine, developing 118
horsepower, four-speed manual transmission and other mechanical components. With the project finished, the
owner embarked on a 3,219 km Alpine trip. Subsequently, the
Aurelia was taken in for service, during which a minor oil leak was discovered
and, of course, fixed.
Responsible for breathing new life into the car was
ThornleyKelham, a British restoration specialist, which is now looking to sell
it. The asking price is £ 185,000, which is enough to
purchase not one, but two new BMW M5s in the UK.
