An unofficial BMW i8 Roadster art car will be
auctioned off to support The Ocean Cleanup, an organization dedicated to
removing plastic from the world’s oceans. This i8 Roadster has been
customized by Czech artist Milan Kunc and is dubbed the ‘4 Elements’, with the
colorful paint aimed at highlighting many of the environmental issues our
planet is facing.
The hood of the hybrid sports car
features a large butterfly and vegetation which is meant to “represent the
element of air and energy transformation of natural forces”. Elsewhere, the
side of the i8 Roadster represents the earth and air and includes rolling
hills, flowers, and bees. On the left side, you’ll find a water-inspired theme
with fish, snails, crabs, starfish and more. The final aspect of the vehicle’s
exterior paint is fire.
Prior to heading to auction, the i8 Roadster 4
Element will be displayed at the Invelt Showroom in Prague. From there, it will
make its way to the BMW Museum in Munich before heading to auction.
Like all i8 Roadsters, it is powered by a
mid-mounted turbocharged 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine delivering 228 hp and 320 Nm of torque. Mated to this engine is a 141 hp electric motor
the powers the front wheels. Total output is rated at 368 hp and the powertrain
incorporates a six-speed automatic transmission.
