Chelsea Truck Company keeps churning out special
editions of the Land Rover Defender, with the latest adopting a bright yellow
paint job and a very distinctive face. It’s called the Homage II
Edition, and unlike most Defenders that come out of Chelsea Truck Company, this
one was created to evoke the front-end styling of the older Series 2 version.
Series 2 Defenders stand out by their headlights
being mounted on the front grille, so the tuner redesigned the lighting setup
to make the Homage II look like a Series 2 and added a new front grille. The rest of the body is also
modified, featuring an 8-inch (203 mm) longer wheelbase, mainly thanks to the
addition of an extra 7.9 inches (200 mm) of bodywork just ahead of the
windscreen, as well as the company’s wide bodykit and an exterior roll cage
finished in black.
Thankfully, the longer wheelbase doesn’t reach the
extreme levels of previous “Longnose” conversions performed by sister company
Kahn Design, which made the Defender look simply weird and unbalanced. The interior is completely
overhauled with leather upholstery covering everything from the seats to the
rooflining, the new custom center console, the dashboard, the door cards and
even the sun visors.
Chelsea Truck didn’t mention any powertrain
upgrades, which in all likelihood means that the Defender Homage II is still
powered by the 122hp 2.2-liter TDCi diesel engine.
