If you want to travel the world but don’t want to
catch endless amounts of flights, we may have stumbled upon the perfect tool
for the job; the GEV Patagonia.
Built by a company called Global Expedition
Vehicles, the Patagonia is a luxurious motorhome with rugged off-roading
abilities based on a Kenworth K370 lorry chassis. The price of admission of
this continent-crossing vehicle that can cope with anything while ensuring that
its occupants remain comfortable at all times is a rather steep US$ 465,000.
Those looking to buy a Patagonia have a
virtually-endless array of options and vehicle configurations to choose from.
For starters, the off-road motorhome doesn’t actually have to be based on a
Kenworth truck and can use the underpinnings of various Freightliner, MAN, and
Mercedes models. The Patagonia can even be based on a Unimog. Depending on the
chassis, the Patagonia can be anywhere between 5.3-meters and 8.8-meters long.
The body of the Patagonia is built from insulated
fiberglass-reinforced panels and the example pictured comes complete with a
spacious kitchen, a bathroom, and a queen-size bed. What’s more, the Patagonia
includes a dining table that can be converted into another sleeping area.
Customers can option out the interior as they like, and that includes having a
spacious trunk that can fit an ATV.
Making the GEV Patagonia all the more capable are
off-road wheels and tires, a small front overhang, a large bull bar and a cage
on the roof. Clearly, the Patagonia isn’t a vehicle designed for cruising
between dedicated camping grounds. It is insyead meant to venture off into the
beaten path, allowing owners to camp under the stars in awe-inspiring
locations.
