Harley-Davidson has launched the new Forty-Eight
Special and 2019 Street Glide Special in India at ex-showroom Delhi price tags
of INR 10.98 lakh and INR 30.53 lakh respectively. The 2019 Street Glide
Special has arrived at the same price tag as the previous model that was sold
in the country while the Forty-Eight Special is approximately INR 40,000 more
expensive than the standard version.
The Harley-Davidson Forty-Eight Special was the
highlight of the launch. With the introduction of the Forty-Eight Special,
Harley-Davidson India’s product portfolio has extended to 17 models.
The Forty-Eight Special differentiates from the
standard model with features such as Tallboy handlebar, graphics and badge on
the peanut fuel tank that is inspired from the 70s, and split 9-spoke cast
aluminium wheels. The motorcycle features an emulsion rear shock with a screw
pre-load adjuster. Mechanical specifications, however, remain unchanged and the
Forty Eight Special uses a 1,202cc, V-twin cylinder, air-cooled Evolution
engine that delivers 98.9 Nm of peak torque at 4,250 rpm. Dual-piston callipers
on both wheels perform the anchoring tasks.
The 2019 Harley-Davidson Street Glide Special
features Boom Box GTS infotainment system with Bluetooth connectivity, 6.5-inch
touchscreen screen for GPS navigation and control various music and call
related functions of the connected smartphone, and onboard speakers to play AM,
FM and music. It also supports SD card, flash drive and MP3 - via USB
connection and features voice recognition for phone and media functions.
Engine details include a 1,868cc V-Twin
Milwaukee-Eight motor that delivers 165.4 Nm of peak torque that kicks in at as
low as 3,000 revs. Stopping power comes from 4-piston fixed front and rear
callipers.
