Kia has presented a
pair of new SUV concepts at the Seoul Motor Show, dubbed the Mohave Masterpiece
and the Signature.
Starting with the
Mohave Masterpiece, it is easily the largest of the two vehicles currently on
display and adopts a very aggressive and menacing stance. Viewed from the
front, for example, there are LED headlights neatly incorporated into the front
fascia and at the rear, the Masterpiece features a pair of large taillights and
quad tailpipes incorporated into the lower portion of the bumper.
Whereas Kia says
the Masterpiece Concept simply shows how the company could adapt its current
design features into a large off-road SUV, the Mohave name, along with a
prototype that was recently caught testing, suggests that it will replace the
first-gen large SUV that’s been on sale for more than a decade and, in the
U.S., where it was sold under the Borrego moniker, was a sales flop.
The Signature
Concept is similar to the Kia SP Concept presented at last year’s India Auto
Expo but adopts a modified design. Unlike the Masterpiece, which has a very
square design, the Signature incorporates a host of flowing lines and has a
futuristic feel to it.
The front end has
been made particularly interesting thanks to eye-catching headlights and a faux
front grille. Kia has already confirmed that the Signature Concept previews a
production-ready compact SUV which will be presented to the world later this
year.
In addition to the
two SUVs, the Korean automaker is also displaying the eye-catching ‘Imagine by
Kia’ concept at the Seoul Motor Show. The Imagine by Kia is the car
manufacturer’s first all-electric, four-door passenger car concept, but the
official line is that won’t make it to the production line. It could, however,
hint at future interior and exterior design elements which could be found in
upcoming Kia models.
