On sale for almost a year now, the Lamborghini
Huracan Super Trofeo Evo race car has already had two special edition models. Yes, we live in a world where
some automakers offer special edition versions of their race cars and
Lamborghini makes no exception. Following the Huracan Super Trofeo Evo 10th
Edition released last summer, a Collector 2019 edition has been unveiled by
Lamborghini Squadra Corse in Geneva — but not at the auto show.
Eligible for Lamborghini single-brand championships,
the Huracan Super Trofeo Evo Collector 2019 race car debuted during an event
held at the headquarters of prestigious watchmaker Roger Dubuis Manufacture, a
Lamborghini Squadra Corse partner since 2017.
The special relationship between the two brands is
obvious when looking at the livery of the special edition race car — the roof
graphics imitate the design of the of the Excalibur Huracan Performante
timepiece.
The limited edition watch evokes certain components
of the 630 PS 5.2-liter V10 engine that powers both the road-going
Huracan and Super Trofeo versions. For example, the watch’s “X” design is a
reference to the X Frame that protects the car’s engine. Furthermore, the case
back of the new timepiece limited to 88 units hints at the design of the car’s
wheel rims, while the watch crown is inspired by the wheel’s single nut.
The race car also features “Roger Dubuis” lettering
at the top of the windshield and on the central fin above the engine
compartment. The black and gold livery was designed by Lamborghini Centro Stile
and combines a matte black carbon fiber bodywork with gold accents on the front
bumper, hood, sides, diffusor, and rear fin. The gold elements serve to
highlight the extreme aerodynamics of the Huracán Super Trofeo Evo.
