Maserati never built a Shooting Brake version of the
Quattroporte, but a few years ago, Carrozzeria Touring made four, based on the
previous-generation Italian car – and, indirectly, led to the creation of this
car. That’s because one enthusiast was so disappointed by the fact that he
missed his chance to buy one that was auctioned off in 2013, he decided to take
the matter into his own hands.
Thus, he set out to create his own Quattroporte
Shooting Brake. The man reached out to a few UK companies to build his ultimate
ride. However, most of them charged about £ 200,000 for the
conversion, excluding of course the cost of a Quattroporte. Shortly after, he
met Adam Redding, a top quality car restorer, and after going over the budget
and viewing a few renderings, he commissioned Adam for the build. As for the
donor vehicle, it started life as a 2015 Quattroporte and was first registered
in 2016.
Roughly 1,500 man-hours later, the project was
finished. It has a Gunmetal Grey metallic paint, 20-inch Mercurio alloy wheels,
Nero leather inside, piano black trim, satellite navigation system, heated
seats, sunroof, reversing camera and other gizmos. Most importantly, it’s a
one-of-a-kind Shooting Brake, with only 14,023 km on the clock
that’s powered by a 3.0-liter diesel engine and has a custom rear end with an
electric tailgate.
