Mercedes-AMG’s GT R Pro flagship model is now
available to order in the UK, priced at £ 188,345, or roughly £ 40,000 more than the “regular” GT R Coupe. The Pro features the same
twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 as the GT R that puts out 577 HP and 700 Nm of torque. It accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 3.6
seconds and max out at 318 km/h.
It’s not straight line performance that makes this
car special, though. The GT R Pro produces more downforce than the GT R and
features a new suspension and lightweight bucket seats and wheels. The end
result is improved rigidity and greater stability around corners.
Standard equipment on the GT R Pro includes a
10.25-inch digital-instrument cluster display and multimedia display, carbon
ceramic brakes, matte black roll cage, 19-inch front / 20-inch rear AMG five
twin-spoke titanium grey alloy wheels and a Premium package (Burmester surround
sound, Keyless-Go package).
That’s not all, you also get the AMG Track
package, Active Aerodynamics, AMG Ride Control sports suspension with
adjustable damper system, AMG electronically controlled rear axle limited-slip
differential, Parking package (including Parking Assist Parktronic), AMG
Traction Control and AMG Interior Night package.
Meanwhile, the AMG Matte Black Carbon Fiber Trim
package, light green racing stripes and the AMG Carbon package I for the rear
diffuser and front splitter, help give the car its track-focused appearance.
This is not just a fully loaded GT
R. AMG GT3 racing driver Maro Engel lapped the Nurburgring in just 7:04.632
minutes with the AMG GT R Pro – that’s over 6 seconds quicker than the AMG GT R
and 4 seconds quicker than the Nissan GT-R Nismo. So while the £ 40k premium is
not exactly cheap and you don’t get a power upgradfe, you can see where the
extra money has gone, and then it’s up to you to decide if you want something
even more extreme than the already raw GT R.
