The all-new Mercedes-AMG CLA 35 Shooting Brake has
been spotted once again, this time in northern Europe where it is subjected to
cold weather testing. The Mercedes-AMG versions are still
in the works and one of them has been caught on public roads wearing a lot of
camouflage. We’re talking about the “entry-level” CLA 35 Shooting Brake, which
will slot above the current range-topper, the 225 PS CLA 250 Shooting
Brake.
As with the already
unveiled Mercedes-AMG A35 hot hatch, the CLA 35 Shooting Brake will pack a
2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline engine making 306 PS and
400 Nm of torque. It will come equipped as standard with a
seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and the 4Matic all-wheel-drive
system.
The new
Mercedes-AMG CLA 35 should deliver similar performance figures to the A35, even
though the Shooting Brake is slightly heavier. We can expect a 0 to 100 km/h sprint of around 4.7 seconds and a top speed of 250 km/h —
electronically limited.
As the spy photos
can attest, the added performance will be visible on the CLA 35 Shooting
Brake’s body courtesy of a more aggressive aero kit with sportier bumpers and a
slightly larger roof spoiler, as well as a lowered sports suspension, wider
tires, and two big exhaust pipes.
The interior will
see its fair share of upgrades as well including sports seats, a sports
steering wheel, and dedicated trim. The CLA 35 will also get some unique
driving modes including Comfort, Sport, Sport+, Individual, and Slippery.
Expect the Mercedes-AMG CLA 35 Shooting Brake to debut later this year,
possibly at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.
