Suzuki Motorcycle India has announced the launch of the CBS-equipped
version of the Access 125 Drum Brake. The disc brake CBS version, as regular
readers would already know, was launched in India last year. With the addition of CBS, the
Suzuki Access 125 drum variant would operate both brakes only by pressing left
brake lever.
The CBS tech is aimed to reduce the brake distance and keep a
balance between front and rear stopping forces for enhanced safety. The Suzuki
Access 125 drum brake CBS variant has been priced at INR 56,667 (ex-showroom
Delhi), and it is available across Suzuki dealerships in the country.
Apart from the addition of CBS, everything remains
identical to the non-CBS model. Engine specifications include a 125cc single
cylinder, air-cooled engine that puts out 8.7 PS of power at 7,000 rpm and 10.2
Nm of peak torque at 5,000 rpm.
Suzuki Access, which is the brand's bread and butter
product, shows no signs of slowing. In January, Access 125 was the second
highest sold scooters in the country. The Access 125 replaced the TVS Jupiter
as the second best-selling scooter in the Indian market. Suzuki sold 54,524
units of the Access 125 in January, as against TVS Jupiter's 51,300 units
during the same period. The TVS Jupiter (48,688 units sold) reclaimed the
second spot in February 2019 although the Access 125 (48,265 units sold) wasn't
too far behind on the third spot.
