Mercedes is launching the new CLA Coupe in Europe. The 2019 CLA still has sporty looks, which played a major role in making its predecessor popular, only now it backs them up with more dynamic proportions thanks to its increased length, width and wider tracks.

Owners of the outgoing CLA will be pleased to know that the new model is not only physically bigger, but also more spacious inside, thanks to the 30 mm longer wheelbase and wider body, offering more shoulder- and legroom both front and rear.

European customers will be offered a wide range of gasoline engines to choose from, starting with the 134 hp CLA 180 and reaching all the way up to the recently revealed 302 hp CLA 35 AMG, which is the lineup’s current flagship until the CLA 45 pops up. There are also three diesel models to choose from, as well as the option of all-wheel drive with the CLA 220 and CLA 250 petrol models – the 35 AMG gets it as standard.

The interior adopts the same styling as the A-Class, which isn’t a bad thing considering that it’s already been considered one of the most special of the premium compact class. A pair of free-standing 10.25-inch displays are the -optional- stars of the show, together with the latest MBUX infotainment system, backed up by a sculpted dash that looks upmarket thanks to the clever use of different colors and materials.

There will be three suspension options: a standard one with steel springs, McPherson struts up front and a multilink rear, as well as beefier anti-roll bars, a lowered setup, and an active adaptive suspension.

The first examples of the new Mercedes CLA will be delivered to customers in Europe next month.
