Ram is commemorating the 145th running of the
Kentucky Derby and their 10th anniversary as its official sponsor with a
special edition of the Heavy Duty 2500 and 3500 that was unveiled at the New
York Auto Show.
The 2019 Kentucky Derby Edition is based on the
Limited model and can be ordered in the Mega Cab or Crew Cab body styles, with
2WD or AWD, two bed lengths (6-ft and 4-in or 8-ft) and a single or dual rear
wheel configuration. Clients will also have to choose between the 6.7-liter
Cummings turbodiesel and the 6.4-liter HEMI V8.
Limited to 1,000 units, the trucks feature
body-colored bumpers anda billet-appearance grille. They also pack plenty of
gear, including trailer-towing content, 360-degree camera system with
trailer-reverse guidance, air suspension with bed lowering, bed step, DOT
safety kit, Forward Collision Warning-Plus with trailer braking, Blind-Spot
Monitoring and others.
Facilitating ingress and egress are the
power-retracting running boards. Once inside, users will notice the leather
seats with uniquely-colored surfaces, wood and metal trim and 12-inch Unconnect
infotainment system with Sirius XM 360L and navigation.
Available in one of seven exterior colors called
Pearl White, Bright White, Delmonico Red, Granite Crystal, Diamond Black
Crystal, Patriot Blue and Max Steel, the special edition will go on sale in the
third quarter of the year. Pricing starts at US$ 66,890 for the Ram 2500 and US$ 68,240 for the Ram 3500, excluding a US$ 1,695 destination charge.
