Chevrolet has released the first teaser image of the
Tracker and Trailblazer, ahead of their debut at the Shanghai Auto Show on
April 16th. The company is keeping details under wraps, but hinted the models
will feature “GM’s latest propulsion, intelligent connectivity and safety
technologies.” That’s not much to go on, but the crossovers will be sold
alongside the Equinox and Chevrolet said the models will “meet the diverse
demands of younger consumers.”
While the teaser image isn’t too revealing, pictures
of the Tracker surfaced in January. They showed the model will have will have a
slender grille which resides above a prominent air intake. The crossover will
also have a sculpted hood and plastic body cladding.
Moving further back, the Tracker has distinctive
front fenders which incorporate the ‘recessed curve’ design featured on the
Silverado. The model also has pronounced character lines and a greenhouse which
ramps up towards the rear. Engine options remain unconfirmed, but previous
reports have suggested the Tracker will be powered by a turbocharged 1.0-liter
three-cylinder engine that produces up to 115 hp. It will
reportedly be connected to a six-speed dual-clutch transmission.
Less is known about the Trailblazer, but the teaser
image shows the model will have a slim grille which is flanked by two sets of
lighting units. Other notable features include a roof rack and an angular
accent above the rear fenders. The model also appears to have a distinctive
greenhouse with a stepped window that continues into the D-pillar. Previous reports have suggested
the Trailblazer will be a renamed version of the Trax and this seems possible
as previous spy photos appear to be identical to the teaser image.
