Genesis’ upcoming mid-size SUV is expected to debut
later this year as Korea’s upscale rival to the likes of the Mercedes-Benz GLE,
BMW X5, Volvo XC90 and Audi Q7. prototypes do come in handy helping us make out features like the quad
headlights or the massive crest grille, or the vehicle’s more conservative
overall shape.
Hyundai’s newborn luxury brand has done a good job
separating itself from its parent company when it comes to styling. As a
continuation of that, we fully expect the production version of the GV80
Concept to look nothing like the boxy Palisade or the aggressively-styled Santa
Fe.
If you’re looking for a hint of what it might
ultimately look like, we think this rendering courtesy of Kolesa and designer
Nikita Chuiko is as good a start as any. It features the previously-mentioned
quad headlight design, the large grille, massive wheels and a stylish taillight
design that flanks the Genesis lettering and then wraps around the tailgate –
we can’t say if that’s accurate or not.
As for performance, while Genesis hasn’t let the cat
out of the bag just yet, we expect V6 and possibly, V8 engines to be on the
table, just like on the G80 sedan, which features a twin-turbocharged 3.3-liter
V6 with 365 HP and a 5.0-liter V8 with 420 HP.
