Alfa Romeo is working on a new sports coupe that’ll
revive the GTV moniker, which is scheduled to hit production in 2021. Naturally, an all-new Alfa sports
car stirs the interest of petrolheads as well as aspiring designers alike, and
these renderings are Taekang Lee’s iteration of such a model.
Lee appears to have taken a curious approach, mixing
elements of the 4C and Giulia in a rather cab-rearward design. This digital
rendering has a muscular hood seems to stretch on forever, and the design of
the roof and stubby rear end suggest that it would probably be a two-seater. Up
front, the concept’s design is dominated by thin headlights and a relatively
small triangular grille that’s flanked by two large side intakes and lower intake
at the base of the bumper.
Last year, Carscoops’ own Josh Byrnes created a
rendering of what the new Alfa Romeo GTV may look like. Unlike Lee’s offering,
it depicts the new sports coupe with a design that’s more in line with the
Italian brand’s current corporate design language – and looks more feasible as
well.
In any case, the new GTV is expected to launch in
2021 and should be powered by the twin-turbocharged 2.9-liter V6 used by the
Giulia and Stelvio Quadrifoglio. In these two it has an output of 503 HP, but
since the company is pushing for electrification, it is possible that it could
be joined by an electric motor and push out over 600 HP – and, of course,
reduce the all-important CO2 emissions.
