Aprilia will expand its product portfolio in the
Indian market with the launch of the Storm 125 by the end of this month. The
Storm 125 will arrive at INR 65,000 (ex-showroom Pan India), making itself the
most affordable Aprilia in the country.
The Aprilia Storm 125 made its local debut at Auto
Expo 2018 and was initially scheduled to arrive by the end of 2018. However,
the launch was postponed. A report from February stated that the delay was
caused due to the unsold inventory of the Aprilia SR125. It will be available
in three colour options – red, yellow and black.
The Storm 125 is based on the SR125. However, it
features a matte paint, bold graphics and several optional accessories,
including a tall windscreen. It has relatively smaller, 12-inch wheels that are
wrapped in knobby tyres sourced from Vee Rubber.
The Aprilia Storm 125 will be powered by the 124.49
cc motor that delivers 9.51 bhp of maximum power at 7,250 rpm and 9.8 Nm of
peak torque at 6,250 rpm in the Aprilia SR125. A disc brake at the front and a
drum unit at the rear handle the anchoring tasks, and the safety net will
include a CBS. Suspension duties are performed by telescopic forks at the front
and a single-sided spring at the rear.
Apart from the engine, the Aprilia Storm 125 also
shares the styling and chassis with the SR125. The pillion grabrails were not
seen on the scooter at the Auto Expo or in the promotional image above.
Instead, the scooter featured a strap. It will compete with the TVS Ntorq 125,
which retails at the same price point. The 125 cc TVS scooter is priced at INR
65,010 (ex-showroom, Mumbai).
