The BMW X5 M50d is living proof that diesel-powered cars can be exciting. It’s a 400 PS and 760 Nm super SUV with a quad-turbo inline-six oil burner under the hood. Offered as a low-revving alternative to the full-blown X5 M, the M50d needs 5.2 seconds for the 0-100 km/h sprint and can go up to 250 km/h. G-Power has, nevertheless, endowed it with a little more oomph.

The tuner didn’t say how fast the super SUV is with their software upgrade, but the output has been raised to 475 PS and 865 Nm of torque. This is 100 PS less, but also 115 Nm more, than the outgoing X5 M. G-Power hasn’t detailed the X5 M50d project yet, but it’s clearly visible that it has new rims and the tuner’s logos replace the BMW badges at both ends.

The current X5 M has also been modified by G-Power – and the tuner has gone all out on this one. Thus, the 4.4-liter V8 has been boosted to 750 PS and 980 Nm of torque, which should be enough to beat even the most expensive (stock) super SUVs out there.

There are other upgrades in store for different versions of the F15, third-gen X5 available. The X5 35i’s output can be increased up to 360 PS and the X5 50i can have as much as 570 PS with the performance software. The tuner can also extract 270 PS, 315 PS and 380 PS from the engines powering 25d, 30d and 40d models, respectively.
