The very first Genesis model, the G80 sedan, will
land on Australian shores in June. Powering the Aussie-spec Genesis G80 will be a 3.8-liter V6
delivering 311 hp and 397 Nm of torque. This engine is
mated exclusively to an eight-speed automatic transmission which sends power to
the rear wheels, and thanks to a drive mode control system, owners will be able
to select from Normal, Eco, Sport, and Snow models.
Genesis tested the G80 extensively in Australia to
perfectly tune it to local roads. Consequently, the car includes Genesis
Adaptive Control Suspension with Dynamic Stability Control and Electronic
Control Suspension that sports continuously variable dampers with the ability
to adjust compression and rebound up to 100 times per second.
G80 models sold in Australia also come standard with
the Genesis Active Safety Control suite, which includes Blind-Spot Collision
Warning, Driver Attention Warning, Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist with
pedestrian detection, and High Beam Assist. The car also comes complete with
Lane Departure Warning, Pre-active Seat Belts, Rear Cross-Traffic Collision
Warning, Smart Cruise Control, Surround View Monitor, Parking Distance Warning,
and a Tire Pressure Monitoring System, as well as nine airbags.
Local buyers will be able to choose from two trim
levels. The entry-level version is priced from AUD 68,900 (US$ 49,019) and
simply dubbed the G80 3.8. It comes with features such as a 9.2-inch HD
multimedia system, 17-speaker Lexicon by Harman audio system, wireless
smartphone charging, and LED headlights.
The range-topping G80 3.8 Ultimate starts at AUD 88,900 (US$ 63,248) and adds 19-inch alloy wheels, a heated steering wheel,
panorama glass sunroof, head-up display, and a 7-inch digital gauge cluster.
Both variants can be equipped with the optional, AUD 4,000 Sport Design package
which incorporates different interior and exterior parts.
