The Shanghai Auto Show is two weeks away and Nissan
will use the event to introduce an all-new sedan. The mysterious model
could be the Sylphy. Photos of the redesigned sedan surfaced earlier this year
and they showed the car will have a bold new design that echoes the Altima and
Maxima. Starting up front, the model has an angular bumper and a prominent
V-Motion grille. The car has also been equipped slender headlights and a faux
floating roof. Out back, there’s
wraparound taillights and a minimalist diffuser.
Specifications remain unconfirmed, but the Sylphy is
expected to be longer, wider and lower than its predecessor. The model is also
slated to have an upgraded 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 137 hp.
Besides introducing the new sedan, Nissan will show
two previously unveiled concepts. The first is the IMs which debuted at the
North American International Auto Show earlier this year. Billed as an
“elevated sports sedan,” the concept features styling cues from cars and crossovers. It also has an electric powertrain and an
autonomous driving mode.
Nissan is also bringing the IMQ crossover concept
which originally debuted at the Geneva Motor Show. Boasting angular lines and
sleek bodywork, the concept has a multi-motor electric all-wheel drive system
that produces 335 hp and 700 Nm of torque. Nissan will also showcase an
assortment of other models including the Lannia, Leaf, Tiida and GT-R. Fans can
also check out an number of crossovers and SUVs such as the Kicks, Murano,
Patrol, Qashqai, Terra and X-Trail.
