Electric performance motorcycle manufacturer
Ultraviolette has started testing its first product, codenamed 'F77', in India.
A protype prototype of the electric motorcycle was spotted undisguised
somewhere near Bengaluru recently
The uncamouflaged motorcycle reveals several details
about the upcoming product. The styling, for example, has several elements that
remind of the KTM naked roadsters. However, F77 has its own character. The
fascia, for example, it has a full-LED headlight with DRLs that occupies in the
bottom part. Several panels surround the headlamp and conceal the forks,
lending an aerodynamic look to the front.
The cockpit features triple clamp for the clip-on
bars and a digital instrument cluster. The features on the console are not
available yet, but we could see smartphone integration via Bluetooth to access
several functions related to music, messaging and calls. It could also feature
an integrated navigation system – a feature that we saw on the Ather 450.
The saddle is a step-up, split unit that is followed
by a twin-pod LED tail light and blinkers at the rear. The design of the tail
section resembles KTM’s RC series. The sides are covered in a fairing to hide
the battery pack and the motor. The swingarm is a single-piece cast unit.
The alloy wheels are shod in Metzeler M5 tyres – the
same units that come factory fitted on the KTM 390 range. Anchoring department,
as seen in the spy media, comprises disc brakes on both ends, while the safety
net would most likely include a dual-channel ABS. Shock absorption tasks are
performed by upside-down forks at the front, while at the back, there would be
a monoshock unit. The rear shock absorber is seen in a shade of blue.
The Bengaluru based start-up would place the
motorcycle against conventional motorcycles powered by a 200 cc engine.
Propelling tasks are performed by a 25 kW/90Nm electric motor. A 0-100 km/h
sprint takes 8 seconds and the top speed is 140 km/h. The company aims to offer
a real-world range of 150 km. The motorcycle is expected to cost between INR
2-2.5 lakh. It will most likely go on sale towards the year-end, with the
avavailability limited to Bengaluru in the first phase.
