Just days after an ABS-equipped Mahindra Bolero was
spotted at a dealership, spy shots of a Mahindra Bolero equipped with
driver-side airbag and rear parking sensors have surfaced online, courtesy
Vikatan.com.
When looked closely, the updated Mahindra Bolero can
be seen accommodating a new steering wheel, which has been lifted from the
Mahindra TUV300. The steering wheel had to be changed to add a driver airbag.
The updated SUV will also boast other new safety features like a seat-belt reminder
for front occupants, manual override for the central locking system, a speed
alert system and rear parking sensors since it will become mandatory for all M1
category vehicles to have them as standard from 1 July 2019.
The spy shots show the vehicle featuring the same
dual-tone theme, digital instrument cluster, faux-wood finish and the
single-DIN audio system that are offered in the Power Plus ZLX variant
currently. The exterior is no different from that of the current model.
However, the spy shot below does show that black parking sensors have been
added at the rear.
In the future, the Mahindra Bolero will get
structural upgrades, because it will become mandatory to clear crash tests for
driver and passenger safety under BNVSAP from 1 October 2019. By March 2020,
the 2.5L m2DiCR engine is said to be upgraded BS-VI standards. This engine
develops 63 PS)of maximum power at 3,200 rpm and 195 NM of peak
torque at 1,400-2,200 rpm in its current, BS-IV state.
Mahindra is expected to give the Bolero a minor
design refresh in 2020. The higher pedestrian safety demanded under BNVSAP from
1 October 2020 may compel the company to fit a higher bonnet, a softer bumper
and a redesigned grille.
