Volkswagen’s all-new 2019 Arteon reaches U.S.
dealerships this month, giving the automaker a good excuse to release a big
photo gallery and more details on the CC‘s successor. The new photos allow us to spot
the differences between the three trim levels: SE, SEL, and SEL Premium. The
base SE grade (starting from US$ 35,845) doesn’t look like an entry-level model as
it comes with standard LED headlights, DRLs, and taillights, as well as 18-inch
alloys.
SEL models (from US$ 39,995) add LED headlights with
Adaptive Front-lighting System (AFS) and panoramic sunroof, while SEL Premium
(from US$ 44,945) comes equipped with 19-inch alloys. The optional R-Line packs
offer either 19- or 20-inch wheel upgrades, in addition to many sportier design
elements such as the front bumper, R-Line air inlets, and a gloss black rear
spoiler.
Inside, the 2019 Arteon SE offers plenty of standard
kit such as 60:40 rear seats, three-zone Climatronic automatic climate control,
heated, 12-way power seats in leatherette, leather-wrapped multifunction
steering wheel, Composition Media infotainment system with 8.0-inch
glass-covered touchscreen, and more.
SEL models add Nappa leather seats with memory
setting for the driver, while SEL Premium models feature ventilated front seats,
heated rear seats, and a massaging function for the driver. The range-topping
Arteon also features a heated steering wheel with paddle shifters, 700-watt
Dynaudio sound system with 13 channels and 12 speakers, 8.0-inch Discover Media
infotainment system with navigation, and 12.3-inch Volkswagen Digital Cockpit.
The optional R-Line package adds stuff such as a
black headliner, stainless-steel sport pedal covers, stainless-steel door sills
with the R-Line logo, contrast stitching on the steering wheel and shift knob,
paddle shifters, and metallic decor pieces.
Regardless of the trim level, there is a single
powertrain choice for the 2019 Arteon in the United States. That’s a 2.0-liter
TSI four-cylinder gasoline engine rated at 268 hp and 350 Nm of
torque. A standard eight-speed automatic transmission sends power to the front
wheels though 4Motion all-wheel drive is available on SE and SEL models and
standard on SEL Premium. All models come fitted as standard with the DCC
adaptive damping system and XDS® cross-differential lock at the front and rear.
EPA-estimated fuel economy for FWD models is 22 mpg
city/31 mpg highway/25 mpg combined. AWD models are rated at 20/27/23 mpg.
