Audi is putting the finishing touches on the 2020 A3
and now we’re getting our first look at the next-generation RS3. Snapped undergoing testing on the
Nürburgring, this RS3 mule doesn’t look too out of the ordinary at first
glance. A closer inspection reveals the car has been equipped with
extended fender flares which suggest the model has a wider track than its
predecessor. Additional changes are limited, but that’s to be expected as the
mule is wearing a current RS3 body.
The 2021 RS3 should
follow in the steps of the redesigned A3 and S3. We can expect an
evolutionary design with a wider Singleframe grille and a more prominent
shoulder line. The hot hatch should also have a sportier greenhouse, new
lighting units and a slightly longer wheelbase.
The cabin should echo the standard model and this
means drivers can expect a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a roughly
10.1-inch infotainment system. There should also be an angular dashboard with
protruding air vents.
Little is known about the RS3 at this point, but the
current model has a turbocharged 2.5-liter five-cylinder engine that produces
395 hp and 480 Nm of torque. It is connected to a
seven-speed S tronic transmission and a standard quattro all-wheel drive
system. This enables the hatchback to rocket from 0-100 km/h in 4.1
seconds before hitting a limited top speed of 250 km/h.
