Chinese two-wheeler
brand CFMoto has teased the '250SR', its upcoming quarter-litre, fully-faired
motorcycle. This model could be launched as a rival to the likes of KTM RC200,
Suzuki Gixxer SF 250 (TBA) and Honda CBR250R, for a price of under INR 2 lakh
(ex-showroom).
The 250SR will most
definitely share its chassis, engine and other hardware specifications with the
250NK naked roadster. However, the SR badge will bring more aggressive
ergonomics and better aerodynamics. The styling of the motorcycle in the teaser
video reveals that the 250SR will come with twin-pod LED headlight, along with
a full-fairing design and a tall windscreen that will enhance the aerodynamics
as compared to the naked roadster. The tail light and the blinkers, too, will
be full LED.
The upcoming CFMoto
250SR will be built around a trellis frame, and it will feature a steel
swingarm. Shock absorption department will comprise a monoshock and upside down
forks at the back and front respectively. Anchoring department will include
disc brakes on both wheels while the safety net, will most likely imclude
dual-channel ABS.
Mechanical
specifications will include a 249.2 cc liquid-cooled, single cylinder, 4-valve,
DOHC, fuel-injected engine with a balance shaft. Do note that KTM AG had
entered a joint venture with CFMoto in October 2017. CFMoto holds the majority
stake in the CFMoto-KTMR2R joint venture. The motor, as in the 250NK, will
produce a maximum power of 26.5 PS at 9,000 rpm and 22 Nm of peak torque at 7,500
rpm. It will be paired with a six-speed gearbox. The motorcycle in the teaser
video is seen with a single-seat setup with a rear cowl replacing the pillion
seat. The road-ready model, on the other hand, will have a split-style, step-up
saddle.
The fuel tank
capacity of the CFMoto 250SR is likely to be similar to that of the CFMoto
250NK - 12.5 litres. A customisable TFT display similar to that of the 250NK is
also expected. The fully-faired motorcycle will use 17-inch alloy wheels
wrapped in 110/70R17 front and 140/60R17 rear tyres.
