Hyundai has revealed its first, fully electric
double-decker bus in Korea, as part of the company’s efforts to help in
reducing air pollution and traffic. Hyundai’s first electric
double-decker bus is fitted with a water-cooled 384kWh polymer battery pack,
making it capable of travelling up to 300 km on a single charge. The
company says that a full charge can be completed in 72 minutes.
The big battery pack powers a 321 hp electric
motor while the bus features independent suspension for a more comfortable ride
and a rear-wheel steering system to make it more maneuverable as is the case
with these buses.
The new Korean zero-emissions bus can fit up to 70
passengers, featuring 11 seats on the first floor and 59 seats on the upper
floor. Its design includes an automatic sliding ramp and a low floor for easier
access/exit for disabled and mobility impaired passengers. Advanced safety
features like a Forward Collision Avoidance Assist and Lane Keeping Assist are
also present.
Hyundai’s first electric double-decker bus is on
display at the ‘Land, Infrastructure and Transport Technology Fair’ in Korea.
