The Jeep Gladiator
is one of the hottest pickups on the market, so Hennessey decided to use it as
a base for their new Maximus 1000. As the name suggests, the Maximus is a high
powered beast as it has been equipped with a supercharged 6.2-liter Hellcat V8
engine. The company didn’t stop there as they also installed a new ECU, fuel
system and stainless steel exhaust. Other updates include a new wiring harness
and a beefier radiator. Thanks to all these modifications, the engine produces
a staggering 1,000 hp and 1,264 Nm of torque.
To put those
numbers into perspective, the standard Gladiator has a 3.6-liter V6 that
produces 285 hp and 352 Nm of torque. Even the Dodge
Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye isn’t as powerful as its supercharged 6.2-liter
V8 only develops 797 hp and 957 Nm of torque.
The company didn’t
say how fast the Maximus is, but John Hennessey described it as “Badassery on
four wheels.” That being said, manual fans are out of luck as the truck comes
standard with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The automatic isn’t too
surprising, but the Maximus also comes with a host of other upgrades. Key among
them are a revised suspension, a 6-inch lift kit and 20-inch wheels wrapped in
off-road tires. The truck also has unique bumpers, LED auxiliary lights and a
custom leather interior with Hennessey and Maximus embroidery on the seats.
Production will be
limited to 24 units and pricing starts at US$ 200,000 including the base Gladiator. Builds are slated to begin in July and the
company says it will take approximately four months to complete each Maximus.
