If there is one thing the blistering-fast Urus does not need, is more power; and yet, Lamborghini is allegedly working on injecting its SUV with extra pizzazz. Motor Trend journalist Jonny Lieberman took to Instagram a few days ago to report on the vehicle, which was allegedly confirmed to him by a “well placed source.” While said source failed to offer any concrete details about it, it’s not that hard to imagine what direction Lamborghini will take.

First and foremost, this new version of the Urus will obviously have more power than the current model with its 641 hp and 850 Nm of torque. It remains to be seen if the twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 will stay but we’re willing to bet that it will, albeit in a higher state of tune with approximately 700 hp.

Additionally, Lamborghini might strip away some unnecessary weight and fiddle with the calibration of the ANIMA driving modes – and if they go all-out, the company’s ALA active aerodynamics that are already used by the Huracan Performante and Aventador SVJ could also be adopted. It’s not yet known what the vehicle will be called (the “Performante” moniker in the title is unlikely), but it will probably arrive in about two years’ time.

However, this isn’t the only new version of the Italian hyper-SUV currently under development, as Lamborghini has previously confirmed that the Urus will receive a hybridized variant in the not too distant future. This model could use the same powertrain as the Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid and pump out roughly 680 hp.
