The international media launch for the BMW X2 M35i
was recently held in Germany. First presented to the world in September 2018, the
X2 M35i is outfitted with a 2.0-liter TwinPower Turbo four-cylinder engine
pumping out 302 hp and 450 Nm of torque. This engine is coupled to
an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive as standard, allowing
the crossover to hit 100 km/h in a very respectable 4.9 seconds.
The X2 M35i has also undergone a series of other
upgrades, including the fitment of new brakes with painted calipers. There is
also a redesigned rear axle beneath the skin as well as a new M Sport steering
system.
While the underpinnings of the X2 M35i are
noteworthy, it is the exterior design which will initially capture the
attention of consumers. BMW has installed a new bumper which includes
enlarged air intakes. Additionally, there is a sharp wing which extends out
from the roof of the X2 and a set of distinctive 19-inch lightweight alloy
wheels.
The interior of the X2 M35i comes loaded with
features, including a head-up display, wireless smartphone charger, and Apple
CarPlay. There is also a leather-wrapped sport steering wheel and door sill plates
with the M35i moniker. M Sports seats are an option and a host of upholstery
combinations can be selected for the crossover.
Prices for the BMW start at US$ 46,450 in the United
States.
