It’s been a couple of months since we last heard
about Pagani’s upcoming Huayra ‘Dragon’, a limited version of the mid-engined
hypercar that’s expected to be even more extreme than the already pretty
hardcore Huayra BC. The company has apparently started testing the new Huayra on track, doing some hot laps at the
Franciacorta circuit in Italy.
Pagani’s latest project is reportedly going to adopt
the ‘Dragon’ nameplate, with the boutique manufacturer said to produce just
five examples once the production of the Huayra Roadster is finished, with the
first car having reportedly been commissioned by the TopCar Design tuning
company.
The new Italian hypercar will continue using the AMG-sourced
biturbo V12, which in the case of the Huayra BC produces 745 hp and 1100 Nm of torque that are sent to the rear wheels via a seven-speed
single-clutch paddle-shift transmission. If the reports about the ‘Dragon’
sitting higher in the Pagani food chain than the BC are true, then it’s safe to
expect a bit more power than that.
The extreme Huayra will distinguish itself thanks to
its even more aggressive bodywork that includes a bigger roof air scoop, a
deeper front splitter and side sills, a different but still massive wing and a
ridiculously wide rear diffuser that looks like it’s been borrowed straight
from a Le Mans racer.
