Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) has
introduced Sound & Style Editions of the Golf, Passat and Tiguan, all of
which are equipped with unique accessories. First up, there’s the Golf R-Line Sound & Style
Edition, which is priced at RM 178,110 on-the-road without insurance. For the
money, you’ll be getting RM 4,000 worth of accessories, consisting of a 300-watt
soundbar from German car audio specialist Helix, VW Tint window film and a
‘Sound & Style’ emblem.
The rest of the kit list is pretty much identical to
a standard Golf 1.4 TSI R-Line, including the R-Line styling kit, dual-zone
climate control, 8-inch Composition Media infotainment system, 17-inch ‘Singapore’
alloy wheels, as well as LED headlamps and taillights – the latter with dynamic
indicators.
Also unchanged is the powertrain, which still
consists of a 1.4 litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine with 150 PS
and 250 Nm of torque, which is mated to a seven-speed DSG dual-clutch gearbox
that directs drive to the front wheels. As for the Passat, there are Sound & Style
Editions for both the Comfortline and Highline, with the former
being priced at RM 189,619.20, and the latter at RM 212,412.
Both versions share the same accessories, including
the Helix soundbar, tinting, dedicated emblem, as well as aluminium sports
pedals and side scuff plates. However, the Comfortline Sound & Style
Edition gets 18-inch ‘Dartford’ alloy wheels, which replace the 17-inch
‘Istanbul’ set that comes with a standard Comfortline.
Meanwhile, the Highline Sound & Style Edition
swaps out the Highline’s default 18-inch ‘Dartford’ wheels for a larger set of
19-inch ‘Verona’ alloy wheels instead. The value of these accessories for the
Comfortline is RM 12,000, and RM 16,000 for the Highline. Beyond the added items, both Passat Sound &
Style Edition models feature the same level of equipment as the variants they
are based on. The same is true of the powertrains, with the Comfortline packing
a 1.8 litre TSI (180 PS and 250 Nm) and seven-speed DSG, while the Highline is
powered by a 2.0 litre TSI (220 PS and 350 Nm) and six-speed DSG.
Lastly, there’s the Tiguan Sound and Style Edition
for RM 175,560, which comes with a chrome trunk garnish and exhaust tips, a rear
spoiler finished in black, a dedicated emblem, tinting and the Helix soundbar.
Based on the Tiguan 1.4 TSI Highline, you’ll still
get a 150 PS/250 Nm 1.4 litre TSI engine and six-speed wet-clutch DSG gearbox.
Also standard are 18-inch ‘Kingston’ alloy wheels, triple-zone climate control,
8-inch Discover Media infotainment unit and Vienna leather upholstery.
All Volkswagen cars come with a five-year/unlimited
mileage warranty, three-year/45,000 km free maintenance package and five years
roadside assistance. The Sound & Style range is currently on display at the
Volkswagen Tour happening at IOI City Mall, Putrajaya from May 14 till May 20,
10am to 10pm. Those who book any Volkswagen model at the event will receive an
additional RM 500 rebate on top of the free RM 1,000 petrol card, as well as
savings on selected models.
