Aston Martin is just months away from revealing the DBX in its full production form and as you would expect, the development of the brand’s first SUV is in its final stages. The colorfully camouflaged test car was spotted towing a trailer, with Carscoops spies able to snap a few pictures of the interior as well. The cabin remains a mishmash of Mercedes components temporarily mounted on a dummy dashboard, with the DBX even missing its final door cards and seats.

You can easily spot Daimler’s parts in the DBX’s temporary interior, including the HVAC controls, the steering, all the switchgear and of course the infotainment system and its rotary controller. This isn’t a surprise, given the DBX is using the Mercedes electrical architecture and the prototype nature of the car. Aston Martin is expected to hide most of the similarities in the finished interior in order to give the DBX a more distinctive cabin.

The British car maker wants the DBX to not only offer a proper dynamic on-road performance but to be capable of tackling challenging off-road conditions as well. Power will be provided by the AMG-sourced 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine, which will be the only engine option initially for the DBX. The V8 powertrain is expected to produce 503 hp and 685 Nm of torque, the same figures with the Vantage.

The all-wheel drive system is also expected to be more rear-biased in order to give the upcoming DBX the agility and handling Aston Martin is targeting. The Cayenne-sized SUV is based on a new architecture that will eventually spawn the future Lagonda sedan and SUV EV models. Apart from the V8, the DBX is expected to adopt hybrid and V12 powertrain options in the next few years.

Aston Martin will reveal the new DBX later this year, with production set to take place at the company’s new St. Athan’s factory in Wales, UK.
