Hyundai is now turning its attention to the lower end of the lineup
and these spy shots are a testament to that. What you’re looking at is the
all-new Hyundai i10 city car undergoing testing in southern Spain. These new prototypes are for the
European markets while the cars we saw in winter were for the Indian market.
Though completely covered in camouflage, the 2020
Hyundai i10 looks more modern and sportier than the India-spec prototype. The
car also appears lower and wider than the current i10 sold in Europe. The
bolder, more athletic stance is also enhanced by the massive hexagonal grille
in a honeycomb pattern that dominates the front end.
We can’t say much about the rear end as
it’s completely covered with a black cover and there seems to be some padding
underneath as well. The interior also remains hidden for now but we can see
that the prototype is in a right-hand-drive configuration. Information is scarce regarding
the engine lineup as well but we would be surprised if Hyundai fitted anything
else than three- and four-cylinder gasoline engines. The 1.0 T-GDI turbocharged
three-pot with 120 PS from the i30 certainly looks like a candidate.
Expect the third-generation Hyundai i10 to debut in
Europe towards the end of this year or the beginning of 2020.
