The most recent spy shots of the next-generation
Skoda Octavia have given us the best look yet at the upcoming model. The images also
served as a good starting point for independent designers in
their quest to render the fourth-generation Octavia as accurately as possible.
Russian website Kolesa’s rendering artist is among
the first to create CGIs of the 2020 Octavia, and we believe they are worth
your attention. Many were surprised by Skoda’s choice to
put some awkward-looking headlights on the Octavia for the 2017 facelift. As it
turns out, the Czech automaker took notice of the criticism and will ditch the
split units for a more traditional design on the new model.
The artist envisioned the new Octavia with a larger
grille inspired by the facelifted Superb, as well as a sportier rear end
featuring new LED taillights narrower than those fitted on the current model
and with a triangular outer edge. The side doesn’t look that different compared
to the third-generation model, at least as far as these renderings of the
five-door liftback body style are concerned.
The all-new Skoda Octavia will debut at the
Frankfurt Motor Show in September in five-door liftback and estate guise. As
with the upcoming VW Golf, Seat Leon and Audi A3, the new Octavia will use an
updated version of the MQB platform. Expect 1.0-, 1.5- and 2.0-liter
turbocharged gasoline engines as well as 1.6- and 2.0-liter diesels. Mild
hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions will also be available — a first for the
nameplate.
